Ancient Greeks

Athletes, Warriors and Heroes

Teachers Information

Ancient Greeks: athletes, warriors and heroes has been specially devised to support the teaching of Ancient Greece at Key Stage 2. The exhibition contains a range of objects which offer evidence for some familiar topics such as athletics, theatre, warfare and Greek myths. These are linked together by the theme of competitiveness and conflict, offering teachers the chance to explore one aspect of the ancient Greek belief system in more depth.

The exhibition complements Ancient Civilizations: Greece, the outstanding website on Ancient Greece produced by the British Museum. The website offers teachers rich resources in an engaging and interactive context and is backed by the expert knowledge of British Museum curators.

A variety of resources is available to help teachers planning visits to Ancient Greeks: athletes, warriors and heroes. These can be downloaded free of charge.

NB Some of these are large files and may take sometime to download over a slow connection.
